SEALs - Why the funny name? It stands for their abilities to operate in SEa, Air, and Land (The capital letters are the letters in SEAL). There are currently 6 SEAL Teams in the US. the SEALs originated around WWII.

In Viet Nam, the NVA, VC, or Charlie in general called them the "green faces," because of their face paint.

Of course, the Navy SEALs are not the only elite units out there.
